From Adoptees in Recovery Founder Pamela Karanova:
We’re excited to announce that Adoptees in Recovery will be hosting a meeting at the Indiana Adoptee Network Conference!
For all our fellow Adoptees in Recovery, this meeting is for you!
Q. What kind of recovery is this for? Substances? Addictions? Abuse? Life?
A. Our groups are for all of the above, and then some. We’re in recovery for a multitude of reasons, and we welcome all Adoptees who are in any kind of recovery. We believe there is no wrong way to recovery and all Adoptee voices are welcome. We’re planting seeds of hope, one meeting at a time.
Q. What should I expect at the meeting?
A. Grab a cub of coffee, and enjoy the company of your fellow Adoptees who are also in Recovery. All of our groups are self help, peer lead, while we take a moment to read the group guidelines and offer introductions we then open up to an open share format. We won’t call you out, but if you feel comfortable we would love to hear about your Adoptee in Recovery journey but only if you’re comfortable sharing.
Your hosts for this group will be:
David B. Bohl – David is an adoptee and he’s an independent addiction consultant, where he engages and empowers others as they struggle with their own or a loved one’s substance use disorders and mental illnesses, and the issues particular to lifelong recovery. He authored his memoir, Parallel Universes: The Story of Rebirth, in hope that it will open new channels for discussions about how to assist the under-served populations of those with developmental interruptions – traumatized individuals, adoptees, orphans, fostered persons, relinquished individuals, alcoholics, addicts, and their families and colleagues. Learn more about David by visiting his website. davidbbohl.com
Pamela Karanova – Pamela is an adoptee in recovery who shares her adoptee in recovery journey at www.pamelakaranova.com. She’s the President of the national nonprofit, Adoptees Connect, Inc. and she’s the founder of the very first Adoptees in Recovery group that launched in Lexington, KY in 2019. She’s got a wide array of experiences and a wealth of information to share with her fellow Adoptees in Recovery.
