My post, The Test of a Good Partner, from May 7th sparked several responses, all of them inquisitive and the majority of them positive. I wanted to do a follow-up and share something I read on Terrence Real’s blog. It ties into the whole relationship/partnership thing. Dr. Real provides a short series of questions for those wanting to keep relationships healthy.
I received several private responses to my May 7th post The Test of a Good Partner, the majority of them positive, all of them inquisitive.
As a follow-up, I’ll share something with you that I read on Terrence Real’s blog that applies to any relationship, including business relationships and a coaching partnership:
RULE: you cannot attain a new, sophisticated way of being in a relationship using old, unsophisticated methods. If you want a radically different, fulfilling relationship, you must know how to shape it.
Dr. Real suggests a short series of questions for those desirous of keeping relationships healthy that I follow in business, in my coaching partnerships, and in life:
- What do you need?
- What do you want?
- How can I help you get what you want?
That’s the short version of being of service to others – family, friends, colleagues, and clients.
