28% of people around the world are aspiring to lead a more balanced life. Now that tax time is over and behind us it’s a good time to look at how we’ve done on defining and creating what we want our lives to look like. How are you doing?
According to ACNielson, a global provider of marketing research information services, 56% of people around the world made New Year’s resolutions for 2007.
Of that fifty-six percent, 51% were seeking a better work and life balance (second only to those who wanted to exercise more at 62%).
That means that a full 28% of people around the world are aspiring to lead a more balanced life.
Astonishing, isn’t it?With tax time behind us, now seems a fairly reasonable time to look at how we’ve done not only in reflecting upon our lives and lifestyles, but in defining and creating what we want our lives to look like.
For me, the fundamentals are in place. I’ve taken a step back and looked at what is going on in my life. I know what my balanced life looks like. I’ve spent the time defining it. I’ve assessed my values and beliefs, and I’ve aligned my goals and priorities with them.
I’ve taken action to achieve those goals and I continue to fulfill those aspirations. I have created a balanced, fulfilled life and lifestyle for myself.
Admittedly, I get off track once in a while. I love my chosen profession, and sometimes I get overly involved in it at the sacrifice of personal time. When that happens, I have to take steps to bring things back into balance. This isn’t so hard to do since the groundwork – the “heavy lifting” – has been laid.
The key to my balanced life is that it doesn’t take huge amounts of time and energy to maintain.
How are you doing?
